Ít người biết rằng, trước khi nổi tiếng với vai trò diễn viên, NSƯT Chánh Tín còn là một ca sĩ và thường đi diễn tại các phòng trà Sài Gòn.
Công chúng thường biết đến NSƯT Chánh Tín với hình ảnh tài tử đào hoa trên màn bạc một thời nhưng ít ai biết rằng, nghề đầu tiên đưa ông đến với con đường nghệ thuật chính là ca hát.
Nguyễn Chánh Tin đi hát khi đang còn là học sinh cấp 3 trường Mạc Đĩnh Chi (Sài Gòn ). Với gương mặt đầy chất nam tính, giọng ca nam trầm có nội lực, Nguyễn Chánh Tín đã được mời đi hát tại các phòng trà ở Sài Gòn.

Sau này, Nguyễn Chánh Tín đã gặp ca sĩ trẻ Bích Trâm. Cả 2 kết hôn và trở thành cặp đôi ăn ý, thường xuyên đi diễn tại các phòng trà Sài Gòn và để lại dấu ấn với những ca khúc nhạc Pháp và nhạc Việt như "Tuyết rơi", "Tìm nhau", "Ơi cuộc sống mến thương", "Xa thành phố yêu dấu", "Mưa hồng", "Tạ ơn"...
Khi đã là một diễn viên điện ảnh có tên tuổi, Chánh Tín vẫn tiếp tục đi hát tại một số chương trình, phòng trà và trên cả sóng truyền hình, phát thanh.
